Double Chocolate Holiday Cookies

The only thing that could sound any better than double chocolate would be triple chocolate…and I can assure you, behind the scenes, I’m already on that idea!

Honestly, these don’t need much more chocolate-I know, I can’t believe I’m even saying that! In my defense, these have just the right balance between chewy chocolate cookie and crunchy white chocolate chip. Let me also add the light pepperminty twist that makes all that chocolatiness so extra refreshing.

I actually just came across this chocolate cookie recipe a few years ago as I was organizing my mound of hand-scribbled index card recipes. I had to add in some accessories, of course, and after the first bite it was obvious that I needed to add them on my traditional list of home baked Christmas cookies. Only a few years on that list now, but they make the top every year! This year, I might even need to make a second batch because the first is, um…what first batch?

Whether it’s one batch or two, I highly recommend everyone give them a try:)

Notes

Substitutions:
  • Walnuts- These are optional and can be simply omitted, if desired.

Store in an airtight container for up to 7 days. These can be frozen as well. When freezing, to avoid freezer burn freeze in a vacuum sealed bag or tightly wrapped in several layers of saran wrap.

Additional Notes:
The cookie base in this recipe is very versatile. You can easily replace the walnuts, chocolate chips and candy canes pieces for something of your choice. Perfect swaps include:
  • Holiday M&M’s
  • Pecans
  • Peanut Butter Chips
  • Andes Candies
You can even get creative beyond this list!
