Banana Bread with Walnut Crumb Topping

Ingredients

Bread

  • 1/2 c Butter softened
  • 1 c Sugar
  • 2 lg Eggs
  • 4 Bananas ripened
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 1/2 c All Purpose Flour

Topping

  • 1/4 c All Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 c Sugar
  • 1/4 c Walnuts finely chopped
  • 3 tbsp Butter softened

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, beat together the butter and sugar until smooth. Add the eggs, beat well again. In a separate bowl smash the bananas with a fork. Then add the rest of the batter and mix well.
  • Add the remaining bread ingredients, mix well. Pour into a well greased and floured 9″x 5″ loaf pan.
  • In a small bowl, add in the topping ingredients, flour, sugar and walnuts. Cut the butter in with a large fork or pastry cutter. Once everything is combined and resembles coarse crumbs, sprinkle along the top of the bread.
  • In a preheated over at 350°F, bake for 1 hour or until center is done.
  • Cool slightly before removing from the pan. Serve warm or cold, with or without butter. Either way it is delicious!
